Major research objectives include documenting Western Australia’s vascular plants, algae and fungi and understanding their evolutionary relationships, determining the causes of decline in the State’s most threatened plant species and ecological communities, and developing practical approaches for their recovery, including threat mitigation, seed conservation and plant reintroductions.We are currently seeking a Research Scientist (Plant and Community Ecologist) to join our team.In this role, you will design and undertake scientific research on ecological processes affecting threatened flora and ecological communities to inform effective flora and community management and recovery in Western Australia. In addition, you will develop research projects and collaborations, publish research findings, provide expert scientific advice, and effectively translate results of research to inform conservation priorities for target processes, species and communities. Sound knowledge of experimental design and complex statistical analysis applied to understanding responses of species and/or communities to ecological processes and threats. Proven ability to publish research findings in a timely manner in high quality national and international scientific journals. Well-developed skills in working in a team to build innovative and collaborative research programs. Demonstrated ability to effectively translate research outputs and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to achieve conservation outcomes.
