Job Description:Individuals assigned to this classification will perform engineering calculations and must be able to layout and design systems in accordance with established policies, standards, procedures, and codes.Perform engineering calculations and layout and design systems in accordance with established policies, standards, procedures, and codes, exercising judgment in their application.Apply practical knowledge and experience in the field to resolve problems and conflicts related to assigned projects, capable of independent decision-making for engineering tasks.Occasionally assist other engineers or designers.Qualifications:A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Structural, or Architectural Engineering is required.OrAn associate degree with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, or electrical systems and structural under the supervision of a Professional Engineer is required.Or5-7 years of practical experience in HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Structural, or Electrical fields is preferred but not required.A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Structural, or Architectural Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of experience is required. EIT preferable.OrAn associate degree with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the design of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Structural, or Electrical systems under the supervision of a Professional Engineer is required.Responsibilities:With minimal direction, prepare system layouts and detailed drawings and schematics to produce a complete set of construction drawings in accordance with applicable codes.Assist in the preparation of contract specifications.Perform calculations and design engineering systems.Provide technical information and assistance to the project engineer or team leader.Make recommendations regarding the feasibility of certain systems or equipment, and evaluate products for their applications.Coordinate design systems with other disciplines, consultants, and utilities.Perform site surveys.Respond to RFIs with the approval of the Sr. Engineering Designer or Project Engineer.Use catalogs to specify items where original design is not required.Train and mentor EDI and Engineering Technicians.Skills:Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.Proficient in PDF manipulation.Researching and writing reports/opinions.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Active listening skills.Proficient in other software utilized.Leadership and mentoring abilities.Physical Demands:Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods, handle stressful situations, multitask, and work under time constraints. Overtime (40+ hours) may be required as needed.Work Environment:Must be able to handle stressful situations, multitask, and work within reasonable time constraints to meet production schedules and budgets.
