Position Title: Mechanical Engineering Technician Location: Western Australia Reports to: Mechanical Supervisor and Product Supervisor About the Role: The Mechanical Engineering Technician will be responsible for maintaining mechanical equipment, ensuring optimum availability and cost-effectiveness at the site. The role will also include operating forklifts, loading containers, maintaining bagging machines, and assisting with breakdown repairs as required. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the operation of bagging machines and perform preventative maintenance to ensure proper functioning. Assist in breakdown repairs when plant machinery experiences mechanical issues. Operate forklifts and load containers. Maintain equipment and conduct daily inspections to comply with operational and safety standards. Complete logbooks and inspection reports as per company procedures. Troubleshoot engine/mechanical issues during breakdowns. Adhere to safe systems of work and site safety requirements. Follow all reasonable instructions and comply with manual handling techniques and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards. Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, management, clients, and visitors. Ensure completion of daily safety protocols such as Take 5s, JSAs, and Hazobs. Attend and participate in prestart and toolbox meetings, complete JSAs, and sign onto relevant permits. Participate in training, inductions, and review activities. Ensure high housekeeping standards across the site. Other duties as required. Job Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of post-apprentice work experience. Previous experience working with robotic equipment (highly desired but not essential). Good understanding of pneumatics and schematics (highly desired). Australian-recognized trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent. Current driving license. Australian forklift license (highly desired but not essential). Cert III/ Trade Certificate (AQF qualifications) or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Skill Assessment Visa and company medical examinations Current passport with at least 2 years validity IELTS or 5 years of English learning evidence Site-specific qualifications (e.g., confined space, working at heights) as required. Shift Pattern: 8 days on / 6 days off, 7 nights on / 7 days off, rotating roster. This role requires a high level of responsibility in maintaining the plant’s equipment including screens, bucket elevators, conveyors, robotics, wrapping machine, and ensuring smooth operations, while also being flexible to assist in repairs and breakdowns when needed. The candidate will play a key part in maintaining high safety and operational standards across the site.
