The Star Brisbane is Australia’s newest entertainment hub at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct. The first phase is now open, with more venues and experiences on the way. The Star Brisbane offers a variety of new dining, bars, and unique entertainment options. It also includes a five-star luxury hotel, The Star Grand, and a state-of-the-art Event Centre.
This transformational project has brought even more excitement and anticipation to burgeoning Brisbane. It will redefine how people play, shop, and socialise in the river city.
The Star Brisbane Events team is looking to appoint multiple Event Captains with experience in working on the floor, behind the bar and within event logistics. The Event Captains will report directly to the Event Floor Manager and be responsible for supervising, guiding, and assisting the events team in either a bar environment or working closely with our logistics team. In this role, you will proactively manage the event floor staff either across the main Event, Bars or Logistics and liaise closely with our guests and clients to ensure you deliver a perfect event flow on the day. The Event Captains will work to accommodate a range of events such as conventions, exhibitions, functions, galas, and weddings.
A few of your responsibilities for a Bar Captain
• Supervise, guide and assist bar team with on-the-job training and development
• Proactively oversee and manage the Event Floor service flow and maintain performance standards
• Provide viable suggestions to the Manager to help boost the outlet's productivity
• Continuously monitor the work of team members during shifts
What we will be looking for in a Bar Captain
• Strong knowledge and experience within a high-volume bar, from ordering products to making cocktails.
• Proven time-management skills, with the ability to thrive in a high-pressure working environment
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Responsible Service of Alcohol accreditation
A few of your responsibilities for a Logistics Captain
• Supervise, guide and assist Logistics team with on-the-job training and development
• Proactively oversee and manage the Event Floor service flow and maintain performance standards, from bumping in/out, unloading trucks and motoring High-Risk activities, staff, and contractors to comply with QLD Government & WHS requirements.
• Follow instructions given by the Floor Manager daily for smooth business operations
• Continuously monitor the work of team members during shifts
What we will be looking for in a Logistics Captain
• Strong knowledge and experience within a high-volume event centre or warehouse.
• Proven ability to build productive relationships and to manage and instigate change
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Forklift Licence
• Responsible Service of Alcohol accreditation
About you
We are actively on the hunt for energetic and dynamic Event Captains with previous experience in managing large teams either in a Bars or Event Logistics Environments. You will have exceptional communications skills and be able to problem solve in challenging situations. You will have a flair for the Brisbane events scene and be passionate in building memorable connections with our guests and clients.

About us
