Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – SALHN Repat Health Precinct – Division of Rehabilitation and Aged Care Salary $125,183.00 - $130,779.00 (Pro Rata) RN/M3 | Full Time – Ongoing Southern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking a passionate, talented, and caring Nurse Unit Manager for our Memory Support Unit - Timor 5 Ward and the Memory Support Transition Team (MSTT) As the Nurse Unit Manager this role will be integral to coordinate and lead nursing and multi-disciplinary team activities to achieve continuity and quality of patient/client care and outcomes. The Timor 5 Ward provides specialist Geriatrician led multi-disciplinary support to SALHN in-patients who are awaiting transition to a Memory Support Unit within a community Residential Aged Care Facility. The Memory Support Transition Service provides support to patients with memory loss and Behavioural and Psychological Symptom of Dementia (BPSD) with the aim of safely transitioning them from the Acute and Subacute inpatient environment into community accommodation. In the Nurse Unit Manager role, you will be required to work collaboratively to support service delivery to enable patient centred care and the development of management plans that supports patient well-being and their transition into new environments. About the role: Reporting to the Nursing Director Rehabilitation and Aged Care duties for the role will include: Provide the pivotal leadership and co-ordination of patient/client care delivery in a defined ward/unit/service/program to achieve continuity and quality of patient/client care and outcomes and efficient patient/client flow Implement and co-ordinate within span of control, processes for quality improvement and continuity within corporate risk management and nursing/midwifery professional practice frameworks Identifying hazards, assessing risks and implementing, monitoring and maintaining hazard control measures Provide leadership and direction, acts as a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person About you: Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses Demonstrated competence in specialised care of older people in nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards Please see the attached Role Description for additional information.
