There are 23 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and flexible schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.About The RoleThe role of the Youth Worker within our school is to support, design and develop engagement, wellbeing and social inclusion responses and program activities for the school that directly enhance the engagement of the young people that attend the school. All program activities complement the educational programs on offer and support the engagement of young people's learning at the school. Some of these programs include outdoor adventure-based learning, sports and self-reflection workshops.We strongly encourage First Nations people to apply for this role. Work closely with First Nations youth, providing support and guidance in various aspects of their lives. Foster a safe and inclusive environment that respects and celebrates cultural diversity. Strong desire to engage in sporting activities with our youth including canoeing, swimming, football, basketball and other ABL designed activities.
