Applicants suitable for the role but not offered the position for the current vacancy may be placed in a merit list or pool. If the applicant agrees, the results may be shared with other Australian Public Service (APS) agencies for filling similar roles. Applicants may be offered a future role, without the need to reapply. A merit list or pool may be used for up to 18 months.

About the team
The Data and Digital Talent Programs Team provides several key functions and is a key component to meet the Australian Government Digital, Data and Cyber Workforce Plan. Our team looks after the Data and Digital Supported Pathway Programs. These programs are for Australian Citizens who are passionate about Data and Digital technologies and wish to pursue a digital career in the Australian Government.
The Programs are study-to-work programs consisting of successful completion of a qualification or industry credential, and successful attendance to program events and workplace components. The programs aim to:
* Increase the pool of qualified digital, data and cyber professionals available within the Australian Government by recruiting, developing and retaining talent.
* Assist the Australian Government Agencies to meet current and future Digital, Data and Cyber workforce needs through supported pathway programs.
* Increase the attractiveness of the Australian Government as an employer of choice to entry-level Data and Digital personnel.
* Provide whole of government support to agencies experiencing difficulties in recruiting entry-level Digital personnel.
* Provide a variety of services, resources and events to program participants to ensure they successfully complete their program.
* Facilitate learning and development pathways with participants on the Data and Digital Cadet, Digital Graduate, and Digital Training program (formally known as the Digital Traineeship Program).
The key duties of the position include:
The APS 5 Case and Program manager plays a critical role in supporting the Digital & Data Supported Pathway Programs, with a strong focus on participant case management, workforce integration, and issue resolution. This role ensures that Digital Trainees, Cadets, and Graduates receive the necessary support to succeed in their APS careers.
The role requires case management skills, stakeholder engagement, and program coordination experience, with the ability to provide proactive support, track participant progress, and resolve complex issues effectively.
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) or, in limited circumstances, in the process of obtaining citizenship. Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated. All Commission staff are required to have a minimum Baseline security clearance prior to commencement. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a mandatory National Criminal History check as part of the pre-employment eligibility checks.

Getting to know the Australian Public Service Commission
The Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) is a central agency within the Prime Minister and Cabinet portfolio. The Commission supports two statutory office holders: the Australian Public Service Commissioner—who is also agency head—and the Merit Protection Commissioner. Their functions are set out in sections 41(1) and 50(1), respectively, of the Public Service Act 1999.
