Automotive Machinist APPRENTICE (Engines)The Opportunity: Start your apprenticeship at HM GEM Engines as an Automotive Machinist and be part of a national Australian-owned company that is a leader in its field.
You'll learn in-demand skills using the industry's latest equipment, providing an exciting opportunity to machine components for heavy-duty capacity engines for primary markets such as Mining, Power Generation, Marine, Agricultural and On-Highway diesel applications. You'll be one of 20 HM GEM apprentices across Australia, and one of 3 at our Shepparton facility. Location: Shepparton, Victoria.
Duration: 4-year apprenticeship, with a range of post-apprenticeship opportunities available.
About the role: Learn to use manual lathes and CNC machines to recondition a range of parts and components, crankshaft grinding, connecting rods and cylinder block machining.Basic fitting and maintenance of equipment.Learn to use a range of hand and power tools.Gain the ability to source, examine and follow industrial specifications.Grow your awareness of the importance of Work Health Safety standards in the work environment.About You: Minimum completion of Year 10 High School.Have a real interest in engines or mechanical concepts.Love working with your hands.Good attention to detail and strong work ethic.Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with the right to work in Australia.The ability to earn money while learning a trade.Gain a nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering– Mechanical Trade.Mentoring from experienced industry professionals throughout your apprenticeship.Opportunity to travel to our head office in Melbourne for training.About Us:
