Part-Time (4 days/wk) to June 2026Lived Experience Worker - Level 4Located at Ramsay Clinic Albert Road in the Women's Recovery Network - WRENFrequent professional development opportunities and regular professional supervisionAbout usAlfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.The State-wide Services include WREN - Women's Recovery Network Ramsay Albert Road Clinic and Ngami Wilam - Residential Eating Disorders Treatment Centre in Armadale.
We recognise that women experiencing mental ill-health have specific needs that require tailored treatment and support that is trauma informed and wellness focused.
WREN is a 30-bed facility located at Albert Road Clinic will be run in a partnership between Ramsay Health and Alfred Health.
The unit provides a state-wide comprehensive specialist service for women and those who identify as women experiencing severe mental ill-health and trauma.
Ngamai Wilam is Victoria's first residential Eating Disorder Treatment Centre, set to open in early 2025 in Armadale.
This 12-bed facility will offer a unique therapeutic model of care that emphasizes a robust peer workforce.
With the addition of Ngamai Wilam along with WREN, Alfred Health now holds the largest public-sector eating disorder treatment program in Victoria.
This expansion underscores Alfred Health's commitment to delivering comprehensive and empathetic care for individuals experiencing eating disorders.About the Role:This is an exciting opportunity for a person with lived experience of supporting someone through mental health challenges, service use, periods of healing/personal recovery to use their lived expertise to contribute to change within the delivery of mental health services and be involved in the leadership influencing the design and delivery of a new and innovative service model for women.The role will be an important component of the multidisciplinary leadership, working in partnership with the AMAH State-wide Services Director, Operations Manager, Consumer LLE Project Consultant and Team Leader of Lived Experience Peer Work as well as the AMAH Carer Peer Workforce Development Manager and Carer LLE Director.Educate – using Carer Lived Expertise, collaborate in the development and operationalisation of WREN and Ngamai Wilam.
Participate in the orientation and training of staff regarding the engagement of families/carers in service design and delivery.
Establish – family/carer participation processes in collaboration with the Carer Peer Workforce, to facilitate feedback in service design and improvement.
Evaluate – family/carer experiences using outcome measures and co-design approaches that guide research and understanding of how the delivery of support for families & carers can improve the safety and quality of service provision.
Engage - with partner organisations to support a better understanding of the uniqueness and value of Carer Lived Experience Workers in collaboration with the AMAH state-wide Services Project Consultant (Consumer LLE), Senior Carer Peer Workers and Team Leader for Lived Experience Peer Work.Qualifications/Experience Required:Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes: Lived experience as a family member/carer of a person experiencing mental health challenges Experience in a Carer LLE Leadership role or demonstrated experience of minimum 2 years working from a Carer LLE perspective I.e.
