About the Role
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be based at our Newstead office, however, candidates across Australia with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will directly support the Chief Engineer in undertaking their role by leading and participating in engineering projects and project components that require professional engineering oversight or input.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
* Providing sound engineering advice to the Chief Engineer and other areas of NHVR as required on heavy vehicle safety and productivity matters.
* Contributing to project work, reports, guidelines, and engineering advice as directed.
* Supporting the delivery of complex heavy vehicle engineering projects, project components, and the resolution of technical issues in collaboration with Directors, Managers, and project staff.
* Advising on the application of heavy vehicle standards, modifications, manufacturers' specifications, and Design Rules in accordance with both national and international standards.
* Assisting the Chief Engineer in ensuring that advice and engineering input to projects, initiatives, and processes is complete, accurate, and reflects best practice.
* Representing NHVR on technical committees, engineering boards, working groups, committees, and forums to increase awareness and understanding of best engineering practices.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
* A depth of experience in a similar position.
* Heavy vehicle engineering knowledge and its associated standards and legislation.
* Motivation to contribute to outcomes and an ability to solve complex technical matters and discussions.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
* 5+ years of experience in the mechanical engineering industry including the heavy vehicle sector.
* Hold a Mechanical Engineer Degree & RPEQ registered.
* Demonstrated experience with Dynamics.
* Previous exposure to computer simulation of vehicles would be advantageous.
