School Address: PO Box 10 Joondalup WA 6919Position DetailsHome Economics TeacherMater Dei College has the opportunity for a part-time/full-time temporary Home Economics Teacher to become an integral part of the College’s Home Economics Learning Area, commencing 11th March 2025 until 11th April 2025.This role is temporary as a Long Service Leave cover and is available in a part-time and/or full-time capacity.We are seeking a vibrant, passionate, and confident individual who is committed to helping our students reach their full potential.The Home Economics Teacher will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the Home Economics Learning Area that are inclusive of, but not limited to:Implementing effective teaching strategies to engage and challenge students of varying abilities to achieve specific learning outcomes.Fostering a stimulating, encouraging and inclusive classroom environment designed to support student growth.Planning and programming for classes within the Home Economics Learning Area to promote learning and involvement.Assessing the performance of students in accordance with College procedures and where required, maintaining contact with parents regarding the performance and wellbeing of students.Meeting the deadlines set by the Head of Learning Area and College Executive.Selection CriteriaThe successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.A high level of organisational and time management skills are also required for the role.The successful applicant will also demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the current Western Australian Curriculum and will hold a tertiary qualification for Secondary Education, preferably in Home Economics.Demonstrated experience within the Home Economics Learning Area will be viewed favourably.Qualifications RequiredQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Education, preferably in Home EconomicsGraduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) or equivalentTerms of Employment:Hold a current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western AustraliaHold a current Working with Children Check (WWC)Hold, or be working towards completion of, Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School, Accreditation to Teach Religious Education or Accreditation for Leadership in Catholic SchoolsAnnually complete Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting TrainingHigh Desirable:Knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and WACE coursesAn understanding of current educational perspectivesExperience working with high school studentsDemonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with students, colleagues, parents/guardians and external partnersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong time management and organisational skillsStrong problem solving and critical thinking abilitiesFor further information please visit the College website: mdc.wa.edu.au/discover-mater-dei/employment/In applying for this position you will be providing personal information to the School.
