Role & Responsibilities
We are seeking candidates to undertake opportunities to deploy to US Navy shipyards (primarily Pearl Harbour, Hawaii) before the end of 2024 and into 2025. Placements will be between 12-24 months. During this time, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom learning.
Upon completion of the training, Operators are required to work on the construction of shipyard production operations including interpreting drawings, selecting materials, and collaborating with a team to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.
This work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
Opportunities are available immediately and individuals wishing to express interest in a position should be available and interested in being repatriated in the near term.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Living and working in WA will be non-negotiable so please consider this when applying.
Please note this is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
About The Role:
* Work from drawings and sketches to erect, maintain, and remove scaffolding in support of shipyard production operations.
* You will perform quality control inspections on scaffolding parts and materials for integrity.
* Construct temporary enclosures and plenums.
* Construct shipping skids, templates, and various mock-ups.
* Use transit to sight reference points on the ship as requested.
* Build, install, and remove ladders and platforms that support marine equipment and personnel access and egress.
* Install and remove temporarily decking used when ships permanent decking is removed.
Eligibility Criteria
The successful person must possess:
* An appropriate operator certification (Scaffolding intermediate licence).
* Demonstrated experience in an environment with strict process and procedures.
* Proven ability to be flexible and an eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
* An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance.
* Australian Citizenship.
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected U.S. defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected U.S. defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
