The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Senior Scheduler to join Austal Ships. The Senior Scheduler plays a crucial role in planning and scheduling within the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO). Reporting to the Planning Manager, this position is responsible for constructing and baselining project schedules, aligning resource profiles, and measuring performance. The Senior Scheduler ensures schedule accuracy and ongoing maintenance in accordance with Austal’s planning standards, making sure schedules and reports are defensible and help projects achieve their contractual objectives. What’s involved. Function as an expert advisor to the project team(s) on forecast project effects of proposed or actual changes to the schedule. Provide schedule oversight, support analysis, and guidance to project schedulers to develop and maintain the master schedule. Proactively and regularly review and challenge schedules to ensure they are accurate and represent best practices. Ensure schedules are constructed in accordance with scheduling standards and can be utilized internally for project execution and forward-facing for clients and internal stakeholders. Ensure schedules are coherent and complete, driving Project Management decision-making and adherence across projects. Update and maintain schedules on a weekly basis, escalating outstanding areas of data. Collaborate closely with various teams across the project to ensure effective communication and coordination. Collaborate with project teams and engage in project meetings to discuss schedule development and performance. Ensure consistent reporting of project progress, highlighting areas of concern. Establish and execute effective monitoring, forecasting, and reporting processes for the successful delivery of projects. Report program status through the Contract Master Schedule. Continually review reports to ensure they meet the needs of the business. Provide analysis of project performance to give advanced warning of potential issues to project delivery teams. Analyse the impact on schedule and resource forecasting of changes to current programs, as well as the addition of potential future programs. Provide analysis and forecasting of potential "what-if" scenarios and assess future impact on the business. Produce long-term forecasts of new vessel types based on available historical data. Support resource profiling and prediction across the business. Build resource management intelligence across functions through cyclical review and engage key business units in the process. Provide analysis on changes to current and future projects to resource requirements. Adapt scheduling practices to meet the evolving needs of the business. Help shape the planning and scheduling standards, policies, and processes to support best practices. Identify and implement areas of potential improvement by challenging established practices. Actively participate in EPMO initiatives and contribute to the direction of Austal as part of organizational changes under the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement. You’ll need. Essential: 3-5 years of experience in a scheduling role in Shipbuilding (preferred) or Defence. Fully literate in Primavera P6 with a minimum of 2 years of experience. Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and related disciplines to enable cost and schedule variance tracking and reporting of performance indicators, including project forecasting and cost estimation (ETC and EAC). Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills. Effective communication skills. Leadership skills. Desirable: Familiarity with ship structure and terminology. Basic competency in AutoCAD.
