About The RoleThis position will undertake labouring duties in road and drainage construction while maintaining a strong safety, quality and customer focus. Working as part of a larger team, you will contribute to the performance of your overall team.Work type: Permanent Full TimeClassification: Band 3 $66,772 - $70,917 pa plus superKey responsibilities include:Undertake labouring duties in road/drainage construction in accordance with a timeframe and under the instruction and guidance of the Supervisor and/or Team Leader.Display a positive personal contribution in the undertaking of daily duties in the Civil Construction Unit.Assist the unit in providing a customer focused service and efficient operation.Work within Occupational Health and Safety Regulations/Codes of Practice and use all necessary safety equipment and safe work practices.Operate and maintain vehicles, plant and equipment in an effective and efficient manner ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and City Infrastructure (City Works) policies and procedures.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have the ability to perform manual work in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and demonstrate skills in road/drainage construction and/or road maintenance.Essential Experience:Ability to operate Council plant including rollers, vibrating equipment and other minor plant and equipment.Demonstrated strong work ethic and an ability to work as part of a team.Knowledge of relevant road law, road sign regulations.Knowledge of relevant safe work practices within a civil engineering environment.Current Victorian Drivers licence.Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).Child Safety ResponsibilitiesWe are committed to being a child-safe organisation and have zero-tolerance for child abuse.
