About The Role
Reporting to the Reception Eligibility Manager, the Eligibility Clerk will be responsible for verifying Burnside Hospital patients' insurance coverage and benefits, ensuring accurate billing and payment processing, as well as undertaking other administrative tasks related to controlling and processing patient information.
The Eligibility Clerk contributes to the wider Burnside Hospital Administration team, pivotal to the functioning of Burnside Hospital by providing and supporting secure, reliable, efficient, and fit for purpose administrative solutions to facilitate an easy and comfortable patient journey through the hospital.
This permanent part-time opportunity offers a healthy work life mix with a 3-day working week (days to be confirmed) based at our Stepney site.
Key Responsibilities Include
Submit health fund online Eligibility Checks via iPM and other portals.Patient eligibility:Contact health funds with queriesProcess and print informed financial consent (IFC) letters, and post out or call patients to advise out-of-pocket costCheck the financial status of patientsCheck Theatre lists against iPM ensure that all patients have an IFCTake Excess or self-insured payments over the phone if requiredFollow up all quotes.Assist the medical records staff to provide a daily Theatre list and medical records for upcoming admissions.Perform any other clerical duties as directed by the Reception Eligibility Manager.Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.Ensure a professional approach is maintained in the performance of all activities.Maintain confidentiality in accordance with relevant policies.
About You
You will enjoy engaging and communicating with patients and clinical and management professionals while applying your keen attention to detail and administrative skills in a way that helps Burnside Hospital achieve its operational and administrative goals.
This Position Requires An Individual Who Has
Experience in health fund validations, data entry, patient services or ward clerk services, ideally.Well-developed word processing skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and well-developed interpersonal skills.Knowledge of relevant professional guidelines, Australian Standards and Statutory requirements.Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a team.Ability to self-prioritise and to work to a deadline.Demonstrated patient-focused approach in service provision.Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving ability.Commitment to learning and development to expand current knowledge and expertise relevant to this role.Willingness to embrace and demonstrate the values of Burnside Hospital.
