About the Role
This new role sits within our BOQ Finance business and plays a key role for the business's operational success.
The Manager BOQ Finance Connect leads a team of Lending Analysts and Officers specialising in Insurance Premium Funding and Asset Finance. Reports to this role are responsible for line 1 activities for BOQF and hold a line 1 credit delegation. You will help maintain and build a high performing team to meet the operational objectives of the business; while using your management experience to review and build processes to enhance and deliver efficiency to your team.
The key Purpose of this role is to manage the delivery of the business's operational objectives, the team’s adherence to credit policy and delivery of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) for the business which is critical for the businesses success in meeting budget and growth.
This role will support the Asset Finance businesses and its related products through the management of direct reports, implementation of initiatives, training of junior staff, training of senior staff, development of new policies and procedures and continuous improvement initiatives building a high performing team and delivering efficiency improvements to the line 1 team and business processes.
The manager will hold a senior level credit delegation for line 1, enabling the assessment of higher dollar threshold or complex deals; where a Policy exception may be required. The Manager may from time to time be required to review applications ensuring they assess criteria within thresholds, allowing for consistent and timely application of their delegation within the matrix parameters.
This role will manage credit risk on transactions for Asset Finance through appropriate application of risk appetite applied by their direct reports; evidenced by monthly and quarterly hindsight checks completed on their reports work. Reviewing feedback, providing information or uplift in training or process as an outcome from line 1 and 2 risk activities and QA activity completed for the business.
The role will also build and maintain strong working relationships with a number of internal and external stakeholders critical for the success and continued improvement of the business; Credit Risk, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Customer Service, Product, Transformation, Regional Sales Managers, Business Development Managers and directly with introducers to BOQ Finance. The manager can be called on to deliver to these stakeholders' presentations and reporting on deal analysis, trends, rework information or other information.
Key Accountabilities:
* Policy management ensuring operational compliant and addressing any areas which could lead to the mitigation of risk or capacity to grow the business
* Credit lending authority (DAA) of your team to be maintained and updated to ensure there is capacity to meet the needs of the business
* Risk based approach to workflows and processes, building and maintaining controls in our risk space
* Building a high performing team within disciplines across BOQ Finance
About you
You will have a solid understanding and application of Asset Finance and the associated Group Policies. Can execute credit delegation within the businesses credit appetite and have an advanced understanding of the Asset Finance process and procedures. You are well-versed in the systems and tools used within the business for Asset Finance.
You possess sound credit acumen and have the capacity to lead and develop a team in a changing credit environment. Align with BOQ values and purpose and can role model these values through engagements with both internal and external stakeholders. You can quickly build relationships to foster knowledge growth.
Additionally, you have demonstrated the capability to execute goals towards the Asset Finance business group target and have consistently exceeded KPIs in delivering this target.
* Leadership experience: management/team leadership experience, experience in a complex, commercial environment would be required to be successful in this role
* Relationship builder: ability to work with stakeholders across the business and externally to build and maintain relationships and drive for operational excellence
* Problem solver: ability to quickly learn processes and systems with ability to find, design and implement efficiency uplift
* Financial services experience: while not essential, experience in the financial services, banking or other commercial lending sector is highly desirable
