The Opportunity:
Newcastle Anglican operates the East Lake Macquarie Dementia Service (ELMDS) at Belmont and the ALKIRA day centre at Booragul. These services offer a range of innovative respite, lifestyle, allied health and therapies to promote healthy ageing.
We are looking for vibrant and naturally caring people to join our day centre teams. You will spend the day supporting our consumers and helping them have a great day by getting involved in daily activities, games and fun!
We are seeking new casual employees to work with us to ensure we provide continuous outstanding care to our consumers.

Role & Responsibilities:
* Provide assistance and care services to consumers in accordance with their established care or therapy plan.
* Respect each consumer and ensure they are treated with dignity and given opportunities to make decisions particularly related to their care
* Act as consumers’ advocate.
* Promote independence and choice.
* Work independently and as part of the team, reporting accurately to the supervisor.
* Perform all duties as delegated in our community centres to meet the needs of clients and carers attending our programs.
* Assist with transport as driver or escort with all Anglican Care motor vehicles and buses.
About you:
* Certificate III in Aged Care Work or equivalent.
* Proven ability to deliver person-centred care that respects the dignity and worth of the individual.
* Current First Aid Certificate (ongoing requirement).
* Current driver’s licence.
* Able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
* Willingness to undertake further on-the-job training in palliative and dementia care.
* Flexibility and the ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
* An understanding of safe work practices, proven experience in the use of appropriate manual handling techniques.
