The Role -
Bakers Delight is looking for a pastry cook who can oversee the restaurant's kitchen by managing other members of the food preparation team, deciding what dishes to serve, and adjusting orders to meet guests' requests.
Work will be conducted in a fully functioning, clean and organised kitchen. Applicants must have the ability to work well under pressure with time constraints, with knowledge of different varieties of foods and ingredients, communication skills, and the ability to accept criticism.
Duties -
• checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
• checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients
• kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods
• preparing pastry fillings
• monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times
• coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products
• glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing
• operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits
• emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment
Qualifications and Requirements
• AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
• Relevant qualifications required however, 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the qualifications.
• Have at least 3 years of experience as a pastry cook;
• Planning menu and creating new dishes;
• Ensure quality products are prepared and presented;
• Manage kitchen including training staff when needed;
• Have experience in upholding the proper health and safety requirements in the kitchen;

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 per year
