Description Our Purpose Our Purpose is to support children, young people, and their families to build skills and capacity, address the impacts of trauma and adverse childhood experiences, and develop capabilities that will enable them to be the best versions of themselves.Our Vision We see a future where Western Australia is the safest place in the world and all children, young people, and their families feel safe to dream, to thrive, and to reach their fullest potential.The Head to Health Kids Hub The Head to Health Kids Hub (Kids Hub) is a first-of-its-kind service in WA!This brand-new, dynamic one-stop hub is designed to revolutionise the way we support the mental health and wellbeing of children aged 0-12 in the City of Swan.Offering early intervention and comprehensive care through a multidisciplinary approach, the Kids Hub is here to make a real difference for kids facing mild to moderate mental health challenges.Join us on this exciting journey to transform the future of children's mental health.The Kids Hub is a free service with a no-wrong-door approach, providing step-up, step-down support for children and their families for as long as they require and accompanies families across three pillars – Community Development, Family Support, and Specialist Therapeutic Support.The Kids Hub is an initiative of the Mental Health Commission and is run by Parkerville in a consortium of partners consisting of Koya, Lifespan Psychology, Mental Illness Fellowship of WA (MIFWA) and Pregnancy to Parenthood (P2P).About the Role We're building a skilled and diverse team to deliver this exciting new service that will provide a safe and welcoming space for all children across the City of Swan.Reporting to the Practice Lead, the Family Therapist will manage complex workloads that address children's mental health and wellbeing through the delivery of therapeutic services as part of the exciting, multidisciplinary team at the Head to Health Kids Hub.The Family Therapist works with the child and family holistically to treat and support mental and emotional disorders, whether cognitive, affective or behavioural within the context of the family system.The Family Therapist will apply psychotherapeutic and family systems theories and techniques.This will be offered as a Permanent, Part-Time position working approximately 30 hours per week / FTE 0.8 to support children and families in the City of Swan.Based in our Midland location.Interviews will begin mid November 2024.Anticipated start date: 13th January 2025, with a comprehensive two-week induction program.If you're ready to take the next step in your career, we want to hear from you!If you would be keen to join us, we are now seeking a passionate and committed professional to join our team who can: Implement high quality therapeutic interventions and support services to children with mild to moderate mental health issues and their families and care systems, on an individual or group basis.Liaise and collaborate with agencies, schools, organisations as well as individuals and families for the effective operation of the Kids Hub and best interests of its clients.Conduct needs/risk/safety assessments and intervention goals with children and their families.Use sound clinical skill and professional judgement to provide assessment and develop intervention plans for the child within the context of the family systems.Provide therapeutic intervention sessions to children and their families as per client assessment. Other Commitment to and participation in Parkerville's System Improvements. The successful candidate for this role will hold: Mandatory Compliance: A Valid WA Driver's License.Working With Children Card or be willing to apply for one.Department of Communities Check.National Police Clearance.Proof of Working Rights. Essential Skills and Experience: 4 year undergraduate or 2 year postgraduate degree in health (psychology, counselling, social work, occupational therapy) or continuing education and training in evidence based practice including cognitive-behavioural therapy.Experience with therapeutic models to build resilience and protective behaviours in children and families, including group work, one-on-one counselling, and family-centred support for children's mental health issues like anxiety, bullying, and social skills.Strong teamwork ethos while also being able to demonstrate the capacity to work independently in the delivery of a specialist service to children, young people, and their families.Evidenced experience in providing assessment, treatment planning and interventions to children, young people and adults who have experienced abuse and trauma.Training in the provision of the Protective Behaviours Program.Demonstrated cultural competence and experience in the provision of culturally sensitive services to diverse client populations.
