As part of the Launceston General Hospital Department of Medicine leadership team, this role will work with all of our services to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Northern Tasmanian community.
The Role:
* Provide effective leadership and management of nursing staff and services within Critical Care Services at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH), in consultation with the Director – Department of Medicine.
* Lead patient care in an inter-professional environment to achieve the defined objectives of Acute Medicine Stream within the DoM.
* The Nursing Director - Critical Care will have a collaborative working relationship with the Nursing Director Acute Medicine and Nursing Director Sub Acute and Ambulatory Services to ensure operational plans are aligned.
You will need:
* Direct the operational activities of designated clinical services consistent with Hospitals North objectives and provide effective leadership, coordination, and direction for the management of human, financial, and material resources.
* Assist in the development and application of clinical management policies, protocols, and guidelines that enable the evaluation of services against best practice standards.
* Manage clinical and corporate risk within the established framework whilst ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full-time, day worker (with on-call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 3 March 2025.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $159,884 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

* Payment of $15,000 staged over three years for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full-time for three years or more.
