About the OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting opportunity for a Test & Commissioning Lead Electrical Distribution Technician to join our Hunter Class line of business based at Osborne Naval Shipyard-SA, reporting to the Test & Commissioning Operations Manager Electrical/PMS.

As the Test and Commissioning (T&C) Lead Electrical Distribution Technician you will be responsible for overseeing a team conducting Set to Work (STW) testing, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems on the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) per engineering and program standards.
Reporting to the T&C Operations Manager, the role ensures safe, compliant execution of tasks, meeting schedules and budgets.
Key duties include delivering test documentation for verification, managing team development, supporting risk management, and collaborating with various departments to ensure robust engineering solutions.
Additionally, the role supports verification activities and contract obligations for training and maintenance.
Key responsibilities include: Manage day-to-day activities of technicians performing STW and testing of electrical distribution systems for the HCF program.
Provide technical oversight and promote best practices within the discipline.
Ensuring all tasks are safely conducted using processes and procedures that are compliant with WHS legislation and the BAE Systems SHE policies.
Deliver completed electrical distribution testing documentation to the verification team.
Conduct Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) for team members.
Support adherence to T&C schedules, budgets, and manage risk profiles in the T&C Risk Register.
Assist in planning technical staff development, including competency frameworks, training plans, and skillset enhancements to prevent single points of failure.
Aid in developing HCFP T&C strategies and ensure alignment of planning documents with program goals.
Ensure safe execution of T&C tasks compliant with WHS and BAE Systems policies.
Collaborate with the Verification and Acceptance (V&A) team, Operations, SHE, Quality, and Engineering for safe, effective solutions and contract support obligations.
About YOU Certificate III Trade in Electrical Engineering.
Strong attention to electrical safety.
Strong leadership and team management experience or qualities.
Proficient in resolving complex issues.
Highly skilled in planning and organisation.
Strong ability to coordinate tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
