About the Role
The Global Head of Carbon Markets will be instrumental in driving Loam’s success by securing offtake deals with global buyers and building a robust carbon credit sales pipeline across Loam’s geographies in the US, Australia, and Brazil. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in business development, deal structuring and financial strategy, driving revenue growth and building a robust portfolio of carbon credit offtake. Equally important, this leader will shape market education initiatives and serve as a thought leader in the industry, elevating Loam’s profile and educating the market on the quality and value of Loam’s soil carbon credits. With responsibilities spanning carbon credit sales, portfolio strategy, contract structuring, and market engagement, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Loam’s growth and the future of carbon removal.
Responsibilities
* Lead carbon credit sales and business development efforts to secure offtake deals with global buyers, expanding Loam’s reach and ensuring robust demand for its carbon credits.
* Develop and execute risk management strategies across multiple geographies and methodologies, minimizing supply-side and regulatory risks in each region.
* Structure and negotiate contracts with buyers and other stakeholders to support Loam’s interests and ensure equitable outcomes for all parties.
* Spearhead market education initiatives and build relationships with prospective buyers, key industry stakeholders and policymakers to build awareness of Loam’s microbial technology and the transformative role of soil carbon in global decarbonization efforts.
* Monitor and analyze global carbon market trends to deliver actionable insights and updates to the executive leadership team ensuring Loam’s market strategy remains in line with evolving trends / policy and market demand.
* Collaborate across internal teams to align scientific, operational, and commercial initiatives with Loam’s carbon market goals, fostering cross-functional synergy.
* Other duties as assigned (to be less than 10% of your role).
Requirements
* Degree in Finance, Business Development, Economics, Environmental Science, or related fields.
* 7–10 years of experience in carbon markets, business development, or sustainability sectors.
* Proven track record of success in carbon credit sales, risk management, and deal structuring with strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and relationship management skills.
* Deep understanding of compliance and voluntary carbon markets, with expertise in North / South American and Australian markets being advantageous.
* Willingness and / or demonstrated ability to lead market education and thought leadership initiatives.
* Experience working collaboratively across scientific, operational, and commercial teams.
* Passion for addressing climate change and advancing sustainability.
* Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (international travel required).
