Our client, one of the government departments, is looking to hire a Senior Geospatial Analyst with the below criteria. This contract opportunity is looking for immediate joiners.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Actively contribute to the Credits Supply Branch work priorities by providing data and technical advice and reports to support and inform environmental regulation, environmental programs, associated policies and strategies, often within tight deadlines.
2. Assist in the development and management of spatial data, GIS products, technical projects, and reports to ensure their objectives and deadlines are met.
3. Capture, process, design, and maintain spatial data in a complex digital environment by applying expert spatial knowledge of GIS and related applications, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards.
4. Develop and implement standards and procedures for the analysis and capture of GIS data.
5. Undertake qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to evaluate issues and formulate evidence-based options and recommendations to support policy and program development and implementation.
6. Provide technical advice and reports, and actively participate in industry and agency working groups to assist in achieving business objectives and in meeting operational and legislative requirements.
7. Support the team to ensure work is completed efficiently and within budget.
Key Challenges of the Role:
1. Developing and maintaining sound scientific and technical expertise and skills to anticipate and quickly respond to current and emerging research and technology applications relating to GIS.
2. Working within tight timeframes and deadlines for spatial data, analysis, and reporting requests while ensuring competing project deadlines and objectives are met.
3. Working with other government agencies and regulated parties to exchange, analyze, and manage large volumes of spatial data.
Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Tertiary qualifications are preferred, such as TAFE Certificate IV in Spatial Information Services or equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years of recognized industry experience.
2. Extensive knowledge and experience with ESRI software including ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, and ESRI Web Apps.
3. Experience in database management and spatial visualization.
4. Extensive knowledge and experience with field apps, data collection workflows, and user design experience for a range of audiences.
5. Knowledge, skills, and experience using FME Workbench or other modeling and analytics-related applications, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Power BI would be beneficial.
6. Knowledge of natural resource data and ecology would also be beneficial.
