About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Seaworthiness Assurance Lead Engineer to join our program based at Garden Island in NSW or anywhere around Australia, reporting to the DCE Engineering Manager.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
Exercise your engineering judgement within broad and often undefined parameters as you take on this systems engineering specialist role.
Working on the Destroyer Capability upgrade, you will be responsible for delivering a seaworthiness plan to the Navy and ensuring the Capability Enhancement Platform Integration designs conform and/or comply with the specification and statutory regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assemble the Capability Enhancement consistent with its design, through the progressive combination of system elements to form complete or partial system configurations.
* Manage the certification aspects of the program via Certification Working Groups.
* Work within or across engineering teams as a recognised systems engineering subject matter expert.
* Provide engineering technical assessment and advice to project offices to ensure the ability to successful integrate the product design into the platform.
* Understand the technical risk of each project to support monitoring their progress toward inclusion within the scope of work.
* Support the developed the Seaworthiness Case and the development of Safety and Environmental Cases.
About YOU
* Defence industry and/or Maritime experience.
* Bachelor of Engineering and extensive experience working in Engineering disciplines.
* Experience in managing a team, whilst you will not have direct reports there will be strong elements of people management in this role.
* Someone with a solutions focused mind-set who can manage deadlines and work through adversity.
* Ability to develop formal claims, arguments and evidence to establish the case that the Seaworthiness outcome has been achieved.
* Exposure or Awareness of the Sea Release Process.
* Familiar with risk management, systems engineering process, and ILS.
* Familiar with of classification society and rules.
* Ideally will have experience with deliver Seaworth Material Awareness of Navy policies and processes: ANP2410 Naval Material Seaworthiness, ANP 2410 Provide Seaworthy Material and ANP3412-400 Naval Material Upgrade Management.
* Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
* Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
