Position Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to lead and implement a quality approved Kindergarten program for children at the Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate and deliver educational learning experiences through a quality play-based early childhood education program within the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and/or Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).
2. Plan and implement programs based on knowledge of the child, EYLF, QKLG, and National Quality Framework (NQF).
3. Effectively lead and manage the room and resources to maintain an effective, engaging, safe learning environment.
4. Work collaboratively with fellow educators to support professional development and utilize a variety of teaching strategies.
5. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of relevant legislation, frameworks, policies, and guidelines.
6. Support the Director in establishing purposeful external links within the community.
7. Support commitment to inclusion and access to quality early childhood education for all children and families.
8. Guide children’s behaviour positively and encourage respectful interactions.
9. Undertake duties of a responsible person in charge as per National Regulations, when required.
10. Model the values of the Uniting Church in Australia.
11. Maintain thorough knowledge of relevant Child Protection Law matters.
12. Work within the Code of Conduct and other policies of the Uniting Church.
13. Undertake other duties as directed within the scope of the role.
Role Duties:
1. Prepare and execute the educational program, effectively supervise and engage children in activities.
2. Document the educational program to make each child’s learning visible.
3. Participate in all care and education duties required with all children at the service.
4. Undertake general cleaning tasks to maintain overall cleanliness of the room and service.
5. Comply with all lawful instructions provided by management.
Qualifications:
• 4 year Early Childhood Education Bachelor or equivalent as approved by ACECQA (Required)
Experience and Skills:
1. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a safe, engaging educational play-based program.
2. Thorough knowledge of current early childhood education practices, legislation, and frameworks.
3. Ability to assess children’s learning behaviour and guide behaviour positively.
4. Experience in providing practical guidance ensuring quality outcomes for children.
5. Strong sense of personal responsibility for meeting objectives.
6. Willingness to promote social justice and equity.
7. Ability to work within the Philosophy, Policies and Procedures of The Uniting Church in Australia.
8. Personable with a commitment to building relationships with children, families, and stakeholders.
9. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others.
10. Integrity and professional behaviour with respect for all children and families.
Additional Requirements:
1. Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Blue Card) is required.
2. Position requires flexibility of hours and some travel may be required.
3. Hold current First Aid, CPR, and Asthma & Anaphylaxis certification.
4. Willingness to undertake duties as a responsible person in charge.
