Base pay range$61,889.00/yr - $75,624.00/yr
RNPGA, Grade 1 or 2, $61,889 - $67,435 or $69,333 - $75,624 p.a. plus 25% No Fixed Hours Loading, District Allowance, Air Conditioning Allowance, plus 11.5% Superannuation
Note: A 5% administrative wage payment in addition to the above base salary is in place until the new agreement is registered.

THIS IS A PERMANENT, FULL-TIME POSITION THIS POSITION IS BASED IN BROOME APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION CLOSE AT MIDDAY ON MONDAY, 7 APRIL 2025 Job DescriptionThe Kimberley Region is a remote and complex landscape which is renowned for its natural beauty and cultural significance. The region offers many unique opportunities to explore and enjoy world class natural and cultural attractions as well as appreciate the wilderness values of the area.
We currently have an opportunity for a Ranger (Marine) to join our West Kimberley District team.
Under the immediate direction of the Senior Ranger (Marine), you will:
Carry out programmed operational activities and field logistics for lands, waters, wildlife, cultural and natural resources under the departments control in the West Kimberley District; and marine park patrols for the purposes of raising public understanding of marine park values, regulations, compliance, management intervention, research and monitoring, as directed.Assist with the implementation of marine and coastal annual works programs.Implement works programs consistent with relevant Joint Management Agreements, departmental guidelines, policies and management plans.At the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), we have adopted Leadership Expectations which provides a common understanding of the mindsets and expected behaviours required of all our employees and the public sector. Selection CriteriaApplicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.
Ability to participate in (Grade 1) and implement (Grade 2) operational plans and works programs associated visitor management and natural resource management with an emphasis on the marine environment.Good interpersonal skills with an ability for (Grade 1) or experience in (Grade 2) patrol and enforcement activities, and liaison with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, Indigenous groups, other government agencies and stakeholders.Knowledge (Grade 1) and experience (Grade 2) in the logistics of vessels, and the operation and skippering of vessels up to 12 metres in length requiring a Coxswain Grade 2 (NSCV Near Coastal) as a minimum certificate of competency, holding such a certificate and able to work within confined spaces (liveaboard vessels), and remote areas for extended periods of time.Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and evidence of ability to understand and work with Aboriginal people.Applicants who meet selection criterion 4 to a high degree will be particularly well regarded.
