What You'll Get to Do
The Crew Chief will support the Assistant Cargo Manager to carry out the daily operational plan through on the floor leadership and assistance in delegating tasks while keeping the crew focused and on pace.
* Mentor and guide employees on the floor for best work habits to be shared and signed off on
* Assign duties to cargo employees and follow up to ensure they are completing their duties as assigned
* Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner, constantly assisting personnel in the development of proper work habits
* Delegate or inspect all equipment daily and report any irregularities to Cargo Management
* Responsible for the daily arrival and departures of all scheduled aircraft with regards to safety, load planning
* Ensuring all paperwork generated is forwarded in a timely manner
* Ensure that everyone is following SWP and adhering to the CROM with respect to all Cargo Operation functions (Loading platform, proper use of straps, loading limits etc.)
* Overseeing all cargo in the warehouse is offloaded, ensuring daily inventory control and documentation of all cargo in the warehouse is counted for inventory and recorded
* All Amelia cargo functions are performed using the scanner (arrive, depart, allocate, deliver AWB etc.)
* Ensure all freight is accurately counted, weighed in acceptance and inventory and safely transported between facilities in a timely manner
* Assist with general cargo duties such as loading/unloading of trailers, stickering boxes, and loading/unloading of aircraft and placing freight in proper areas
* Marshalling of aircraft when required
* Perform lifts for disabled passengers in a safe manner
* Ensure company mail is properly distributed and placed on the appropriate flights
* Maintain a clean work environment on the ramp and in the warehouse/terminal
* Adhere to airport and company security and safety rules and regulations and follow the warehouse security as per Transport Canada SMRAC
* All incidents and accidents are properly reported to Cargo Management or through the SMS program as required
* Responsible to maintain a safe working environment as per the Cargo Ramp Operations Manual
* Respect and maintain the confidentiality of company, customer, and personnel information
* Other duties as assigned by Assistant Cargo Manager, Cargo Manager, Cargo Operations Manager
CREW CHIEFS – have been delegated the authority and are responsible to the Department Head to actively identify hazards and deficiencies and report through the SMS (Safety Management System) Program reporting system. Communicate with all personnel within their respective department and other departments as required to maintain effective day-to-day activities. Ensure regulatory and company standards are maintained. Assist in the development and maintenance of company processes and procedures. (Quality Assurance activities)
Hours of Work
* Shift work is required and may include mornings/afternoons, evenings and weekends
Skills & Experience We Value
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
* Previous experience & knowledge in warehousing, receiving and inventory control considered an asset
* Experience with Amelia an asset
* Ability to read and write
* Ability to effectively communicate orally and written
* Excellent listening skills with ability to follow direction
* Ability to lift 50 lbs
* Valid driver's license
* Ability to pass forklift driver's license and operate equipment safely
* Ability to acquire and maintain Airport Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) pass as per Transport Canada rules
* Must be able to obtain and maintain an enhanced security clearance
* Inuktitut language considered an asset
* Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
