About Us: We are a dynamic news agency seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee our retail operations.

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee our newsagency operations. The ideal candidate will manage our diverse product mix including newspapers, magazines, cards, gift wrap, stationery, and lottery products, while developing additional service offerings and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the complete retail operations of the newsagency, including managing core product lines (newspapers, magazines, cards, stationery, and lottery products), setting pricing strategies, and maintaining optimal stock levels through the 'sale or return' system.
* Drive financial performance by developing budgets, analysing sales data across multiple revenue streams, and identifying opportunities for growth, particularly in high-margin gift lines and additional services (dry cleaning, transport tickets, parcel pickup).
* Inventory management, including planning, stock orders, write-offs, returns, and credit notes.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with publishers, suppliers, and customers while ensuring compliance with publisher contracts and retail regulations.
* New Supplier development including contracts, performance, and price negotiations.
* Implement sales & marketing strategies to maximize repeat trade, coordinate new product launches & promotional activities, initiate & promote online sales & marketing, and continuously adapt the product mix to meet community needs and market trends.
* Manage daily operations, including customer service management, conflict management, roster management, store opening and closing hours, and stock level management.
* Manage accounts, including reconciliations, banking, and account payables.
Qualifications:
* 2+ years of retail management experience.
* 5+ years of customer service experience.
* 4+ years of POS experience.
* Working towards sales targets & KPIs, 4+ years of experience.
* Strong understanding of Australian retail operations.
* Proven experience in inventory management and supplier relations.
* Excellence in customer service.
* Financial management and budgeting expertise.
Preferred:
* Advanced diploma/associate degree in a relevant field.
Ability to commute/relocate:
* Portland, NSW: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).
