What you will do as the Executive Director – Competition Coordination & Strategy
Skills
The Executive Director role in the Competition Enforcement, Coordination and Strategy Branch involves managing a team and requires exceptional analytical skills, a very strong understanding of competition law and economics, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills. As the Executive Director, you will also:
1. Provide strategic input into the Competition Division’s investigation pipeline and practices management including triage, prioritisation, corporate governance and analytical projects.
2. Coordinate and, where relevant, lead the preparation of ACCC submissions and other documents on competition-related issues.
3. Support the Competition Division’s delivery of outputs and outcomes under the ACCC’s Corporate Plan and Compliance and Enforcement Policy and Priorities, including through leading work in annual priority areas by applying principles-based competition policy and law framework to address emerging and complex issues.
4. Contribute to general competition advocacy across the Competition Division and the ACCC more broadly.
About You
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
1. A strong and demonstrated understanding of the competition provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other relevant legislation.
2. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as economics, law or similar fields.
3. Experience in successfully and autonomously planning, leading and managing engagement activities and investigations or analysis of complex competition law issues, ensuring investigations are undertaken with established investigative principles.
4. Demonstrated ability to lead objective and systematic analysis to support evidence-based decision making (ideally in matters involving competition law analysis).
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade and negotiate effectively.
6. A demonstrated ability to engage effectively and work cohesively with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
7. Demonstrated leadership, providing direction, identifying development needs and opportunities, coaching staff including experience in delivering regular and appropriate feedback to build strong, high performing teams.
The Following Job Specific Criteria Are Also Highly Desirable
1. Certificate IV and Diploma in Government Investigations. Successful candidates will be expected to obtain this qualification within 6 months of commencing this role.

Salary
EL2 - $143,411 - $168,064 pa (plus 15.4% superannuation)
The successful candidate will be appointed as an ongoing EL2 and may attract an additional allowance via an IFA depending on the skills and experience of the candidate. Please note that all IFAs are reviewed annually in accordance with the IFA policy and are not ongoing.
