The Role of General Manager
Saunders International is seeking a motivated and results-driven General Manager to lead a team in delivering excellence in the piping solutions sector. This is a senior leadership position with responsibilities ranging from strategic planning and financial management to team development and operational excellence.
The General Manager will oversee the growth and profitability of the business, ensuring compliance with industry standards while driving continuous improvement and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute the 2–5-year Strategic Business Plan.
* Foster relationships with clients and identify growth opportunities.
* Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring profitability and cost control.
* Lead tendering processes, negotiate commercial terms, oversee bid preparation and submissions.
* Maintain accurate forecasting, project costs, and client relationship systems.
* Lead, mentor, and resource the team to achieve project success.
* Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and innovation.
* Drive operational excellence through planning, scheduling, and internal process enhancements.
* Champion improvement initiatives and industry best practices.
* Oversee quality and safety compliance across all operations.
About You
The ideal candidate will be technically minded and have strong leadership capabilities, with strengths in business development, operations management and project management. High levels of commercial and financial acumen are essential, along with coaching and relationship management.
Candidates should ideally have relevant industry experience within engineering, construction and project execution and management.
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Business.
* 8+ years of experience in project management or equivalent.
* Proven senior management experience with strong commercial acumen.
* General WHS Induction for Construction (White/Blue Card).
* High-level communication and negotiation skills.
