CORONADO GLOBAL RESOURCES is a leading international producer of high-quality Metallurgical Coal, an essential element in steel production. Our global operations are located in two of the world's largest and most productive metallurgical coal basins, the Bowen Basin in Queensland, Australia and the Central Appalachian region of the US.
As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Technical Services Superintendent to join our team onsite at our Curragh Complex. With a focus on strategy, execution, and continuous improvement, you’ll oversee the development of mine plans, forecasts, and reconciliation processes while fostering collaboration and innovation.
About the Role
As the Technical Services Superintendent, you will be at the heart of our mining operations, driving strategies that optimise resource recovery and maximise value. This leadership role ensures the seamless delivery of short to medium term scheduling objectives, along with ensuring the delivery of our annual budget planning process.
In this role, you will drive change and influence and:
* Develop mining strategies and designs to optimise resource recovery, ensuring alignment with operational and financial goals.
* Design overarching dumping and haulage strategies to support efficient material movement.
* Lead the successful development and implementation of 16-week to 18-month schedules, meeting all annual scheduling deliverables.
* Monitor progress against schedules, identifying and addressing risks and opportunities.
* Deliver full-year forecasts and executable mine plans, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
* Develop mid-term strategies and designs while guiding short-term planning and execution teams.
* Drive the annual budget planning process, aligning resource planning with financial targets.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders to balance operational efficiency and cost management.
* Work closely with operational teams, engineering, and geology departments to ensure integrated planning and execution.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
About You
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
* Proven experience in mine planning, scheduling, and design within the coal mining industry.
* A strong understanding of dumping and haulage strategies, and their impact on operational outcomes.
* Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance strategic goals and operational constraints.
* Experience delivering complex schedules and budgets, with a focus on accuracy and accountability.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence and collaborate across teams.
* Tertiary Qualifications Mining Engineering or a related field.
