The Role
A local government council is seeking a Freedom of Information & Legal Support Officer to join their team. In this role, you will process Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, assist with legal procedures, and provide essential legal support within a government context. This is a 6 month contract with a potential to extend.
Responsibilities
* Act as the FOI Officer, process requests, and maintain FOI registers.
* Provide administrative support to the Legal Services Team, including answering subpoenas and preparing staff for court appearances.
* Manage time effectively, setting priorities, planning, and organising your own work to meet deadlines.
* Assist in preparing legal documents across various jurisdictions, such as subpoenas, affidavits, and consent orders.
About You
* Proven experience with FOI requests in a government context and understanding of privacy law.
* Computer skills, knowledge of Windows-based applications and databases, and ability to manage time and tasks independently.
* Tertiary qualification in legal administration or substantial experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
