About the role
We have a vacancy for a Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Allied Health team to support the team plan and implement behaviour supports to improve our clients quality of life. This is a part time role 45.6 hours per fortnight reporting to the Senior Manager Allied Health. This role is based at the Kew office with some travel mainly in Eastern Metro, clients can also be seen via telehealth.
About you
Your background maybe as a therapist in behaviour support or social Worker, Psychologist, Special Needs Teacher who has the necessary training and experience in behavior support to deliver NDIS funded services to support young people and adult clients who have complex needs and challenging behaviours.
Duties
* Provide direct specialist assessment and intervention services including functional behavior assessment, writing and development of behavior support plans and discipline-specific assessments and interventions.
* Deliver funded specialist services for capacity building under NDIS plans to internal and external clients
* Providing clinical services that include behaviour support, development of comprehensive behavior support plans and therapeutic interventions relevant to the client and their support network
* Engaging with clients to develop effective clinical intervention and therapeutic treatments based on quality assessment and evidence-based practise standards.
* Conducting functional behavioral assessments
* Completing detailed reporting adhering to the NDIS reporting framework
* Training and supporting staff to develop and implement positive behavior support strategies and in the area of expertise.
Skills and experience
* Minimum 2 years of experience in the disability field with clients who have significant complex support needs
* Experience with Allied Health professionals encouraged to apply (Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Social workers.
* Experience in functional behavioral assessment and behavior support plan development and writing including risk strategies and skills development planning for young people and adults with complex support needs
* Experience in the delivery of behavior support services with clients subject to restrictive interventions is desirable
* Experience of NDIS plans and funding
* Demonstrated ability to work in a changing environment to collaborate with peers and achieve results
* Excellent communication and time management skills
* Knowledge of a broad range of psychological issues and effective treatment modalities
* Tertiary qualification in Psychology with current general registration with AHPRA
* Current working with children checks and NDIS Screening Check and driver's license
