Job Description:
To protect, promote and enhance public and environmental health and community wellbeing by undertaking inspections and education to ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure regulatory compliance with environmental health standards.
* Conduct proactive surveillance of commercial establishments and undertake environmental auditing.
* Apply comprehensive communication skills for report preparation, correspondence, evidence collection, and legal counsel briefing.
* Develop and improve systems, procedures, and policies for efficient work practices.
* Support the Team Leader Environmental Health in delivering the environmental health program, providing technical advice, and mentoring staff.
* Carry out inspections and monitor compliance of the business Environmental Health program, including various premises and activities.
* Assess and provide comments on development applications related to environmental health.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent.
* Current Class C Driver's License and extensive Local Government experience.
* Working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Public Health Act 2010, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, and other related standards.
* Demonstrated technical competence in assessing acoustic reports, air quality/odour reports, contamination reports, and waste water reports.
