Our Small Law New Business Team
We drive digital and generative AI transformation within the boutique firm market, providing coverage from sole practitioners up to 10 solicitor firms.
You'll work with an established team of hunters, problem-solvers, and multi-taskers who are focused, driven, and recognized for their efforts.
Most importantly, you'll use your passion for whitespace new business sales and legaltech to support the Rule of Law.
About the Role
As a Business Development Manager, you will drive new business acquisition across the legal, small-law market through effective cold calling, prospecting, and closing to achieve monthly billing targets.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Melbourne or Adelaide with combined home/office-based arrangements to ensure flexible work-life balance.
Responsibilities
* Drive new business acquisition and market penetration through high levels of outbound activity (cold calls, email outreach, and in-person visits).
* Qualify potential clients through expert discovery, leveraging proven sales techniques to understand client needs and provide recommendations for applicable Lexis Nexis solutions.
* Effectively manage the end-to-end sales cycle, with demonstrated success closing opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
* Build effective relationships with key stakeholders in strategic and designated accounts.
* Maintain an accurate database of activity, client interaction, and opportunity sales stage and prediction of sale success.
* Collaborate with the Business Development Director, Marketing & Inside Sales in lead generation and opportunity identification.
Requirements
* Proven Business Development/Sales Experience – ideally in B2B, professional services, legal, or tech industries.
* Strong Closing & Negotiation Skills – A track record of successfully closing deals valued at $100K+.
* Relationship Building & Stakeholder Management – Ability to engage with clients at all levels.
* Consultative Selling Approach – Experience in solution-based sales strategies.
* Highly Motivated & Results-Oriented – A self-starter who thrives on exceeding targets.
* Excellent Communication & Presentation Skills – The ability to craft compelling proposals and engage decision-makers.
