Job Summary:
We are seeking a Temporary/Full-Time Coordinator of Development and Planning to join our team in Emerald. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply their experience and knowledge to various issues facing our governing area.
Key Responsibilities
* Service Delivery: Responsible for the delivery of all applications and compliance matters associated with development assessment, building and plumbing regulation, para-planning education, and development.
* Technical Skills and Expertise: Ability to understand, interpret, administer, and comply with relevant legislation and Council policies applicable to the functions within local government development and planning unit.
* Information Delivery: Producing high-standard reports, correspondence, and advice to internal and external clients relevant to disciplines within the unit.
* People Management: Providing high-level leadership and coordination to a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that staff operate with clarity of direction and achieve an accurate and timely provision of service to achieve section and organizational goals.
* Strategic and Business Planning: Assisting in developing and implementing strategic and business plans across the unit and section to achieve organizational goals.
* Project Management: Assisting in planning, implementation, and tracking of specific short-medium term projects.
* Business Improvement: Proactively identifying systems, process, and people development opportunities that enhance either or both cultural and performance improvement.
* Training and Development: Actively participating in ongoing training and self-development to achieve continuous improvement for yourself and council.
* Safety: Taking reasonable care for health and safety of yourself and others, complying with reasonable instruction, and cooperating with CHRC policy and procedure per 'Duties of Worker' contained in the Work Health and Safety Act as amended.
Mandatory Requirements:
* Minimum C Class Provisional License.
* Degree Qualification in Town Planning or Equivalent Discipline.
* Cert 4 WHS.
* High Level of Literacy with Experience with GIS, Microsoft Suite, and Record Management Programs.
* Demonstrated Knowledge and Experience Interpreting and Complying with Relevant Planning, Building, Plumbing, and Environment Legislation.
* Planning Experience at a Senior or Principal Level.
* Ability to Program, Manage, and Deliver the Active Workloads of a Planning Unit.
* Excellent Report Writing, Presentation, and Networking Skills.

This role is based in Emerald. Accommodation is provided for the successful candidate. Initial 3-5 month contract.
