We are seeking a highly skilled Transport Safety Specialist to lead the development and implementation of our Transport Safety Management System, ensuring a strong safety culture, compliance, and risk mitigation.
About the Role As the Transport Safety Specialist, you will provide strategic leadership in developing and maintaining Sydney Water's Transport Safety Management System. You will oversee safety governance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of transport safety standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities Transport Safety Leadership: Design, implement, and manage the Transport Safety Management System to meet Heavy Vehicle National Laws and Sydney Water standards.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to WHS and transport safety legislation, conducting audits, managing risk controls, and implementing assurance processes.Fatigue and Risk Management: Develop and maintain fatigue management frameworks and loading/unloading procedures to enhance workplace safety.Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to embed a strong transport safety culture and integrate safety processes across business units.Incident Investigation: Lead safety investigations, providing insights and recommendations to prevent recurrence and drive safety improvements.Continuous Improvement: Develop training programs, performance reports, and KPIs to enhance transport safety standards and operational efficiency.About You To succeed in this role, you'll bring: Transport Safety Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Heavy Vehicle National Laws, WHS Act, and safety management frameworks.Strategic Acumen: Ability to align safety initiatives with business objectives, identifying risks and driving compliance.Leadership and Influence: Strong stakeholder engagement, coaching, and mentoring skills to build a safety-first culture.Technical Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in logistics, safety, or a related field, with recognised lead auditor and safety investigation training (e.g., ICAM).Industry Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in transport safety management, with a proven track record of implementing safety systems in a large, operational environment.If you are passionate about transport safety and want to make a meaningful impact at Sydney Water, apply now!
