Job Title: Senior Mobile Application Developer Location: Sydney or Canberra Employment Type: Daily Rate Contract Daily rate: $1000 - $1200 per day Duration: 12 months About Us: I am currently working with an insurance organisation that are in the process of building a new team of mobile engineers to lead the re-development of their mobile applications and offerings as they move away from their monolith platform. As they move away from this platform, they will need to re-engineer all of their web and mobile applications for the existing user base, without disrupting access to critical services for their customers. As they look to build a cross-functional engineering team, they are looking for people who want to build something that really serves their customers, can leave a lasting impact, and to be involved from the very early stages of a mobile app build, right through to delivery of a finished product. What are we looking for? Extensive experience developing and releasing mobile applications on both Android and iOS. Using native tooling like Kotlin, Java, Swift, and Objective-C, as well as frameworks such as React Native. Familiarity with accessibility standards for web and mobile, such as WCAG 2.1. Expertise in DevOps practices, including creating CI/CD pipelines with GitHub/GitLab and tooling such as Artifactory and HashiCorp Vault. Ability to write automated unit, component, integration, and functional tests. Ability wo work closely with QA teams to facilitate integration and end-to-end testing of complex systems. Experience converting UI designs into mobile app components. Experience integrating with various back-end APIs and CMS systems. Experience with accessible web applications built using React and JavaScript. Key Responsibilities: Implement new mobile applications, systems, and integrations. Adherence to industry best practices and architectural principles. Take ownership of the design and implementation of software and CI/CD pipelines to solve complex problems. Play a pivotal role in our project team, using an agile development framework. Document all design and development work. Actively participate in code reviews – both as the reviewer and the reviewee to ensure coding quality and standards are maintained. Ensure that any software produced meets security requirements and standards. Ensure that any software produced meets accessibility expectations. Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Leads, and other IT teams to resolve issues and ensure solutions are viable and fit for purpose. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure effective test coverage early in the development cycle, utilising a shift-left approach.
