Permanent role Competitive salary package Hybrid work arrangements offered Sunshine Coast based Purpose The position of Principal Finance Accountant plays a pivotal role within the organisational finance team to: - Provide overall support to fulfil statutory reporting obligations that comply with relevant legislation and Accounting Standards. - Manage a highly professional and proficient financial accounting team in a dynamic healthcare setting that provides high quality support and assistance to key stakeholders. - Develop and maintain appropriate reporting systems, policies, procedures, guidelines, and systems to facilitate effective financial management. The Principal Finance Accountant reports to the Director Financial Accounting. Your role: - Supervise a team in managing the financial accounting function, providing support, training, professional development and encouragement. - Allocate work and priorities ensuring timeframes and quality outcomes are met and promote ethical behaviour and continuous improvement. - Oversee and manage the end of month, annual financial reports and statements, addressing issues to ensure integrity and compliance with relevant legislation, government and organisational policies and Accounting Standards. - Management and oversight of non-current asset accounting functions including: – analysis of work in progress, timely and accurate capitalisation of assets, assist with creation of appropriate project structures, systems and review of Capital Works Program to ensure integrity between OPEX and CAPEX. – annual land and building valuations, – review of useful lives, – impairment assessments, and – accuracy of the fixed asset register via coordination of annual fixed asset stocktake. - Analyse liquidity (cash-flow) position and assist the Director Financial Accounting with preparation of relevant reports. - Utilise relevant information technology and financial systems to monitor, investigate, analyse and report on accounting system compliance issues, general ledger integrity issues and implement the necessary measures to ensure accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness. - Provide professional advice and independent analysis to senior management, and other managers and staff in the team and broader business on a range of financial matters Mandatory qualifications / Professional registration / Other requirements - Bachelor of Business/Accounting degree - A professional membership of a recognised Australian Accounting body such as CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (or equivalent) with CPA/CA status (or equivalent) - At least 5 years intermediate/senior finance experience including demonstrated experience across financial accounting and policy and compliance functions.
