Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available SSEN Transmission are currently seeking a Consents & Environmental Manager (Operations and Asset management) that is highly motivated, experienced and has a genuine passion to help deliver and support some of the most iconic upcoming National infrastructure projects in Scotland and together with the extensive existing portfolio of Operational transmission assets. They will directly support Scotland's ambitions to meet NetZero through connecting renewable energy and transporting it to the core centres of demand. This is delivered within a highly professional, experienced, supportive and multi-award-winning team recognised for our sector leading planning, environmental and sustainability initiatives (and winners of various awards). The main duties and responsibilities are: To develop effective monitoring, risk assessment, data management, environmental policy and work instructions updates for operational transmission assets. Provide direction and support with operational monitoring surveys, specialist surveys (e.g. bats), consents and reporting and provide Subject Matter Expert support for pollution risk management / contaminated land and mitigation, including supporting site investigations where necessary. Collaborate with the wider Consents and Environment team to ensure that all enduring planning conditions and commitments are fully understood at an early stage in the Large Capital Projects process to facilitate the effective handover of projects to Operations to ensure these commitments are fulfilled. Collaborate with the Operations and Asset Management team to develop operations specific environmental policy, procedures, specifications, work instructions and risk assessments, that meet Operational needs and consider long term management requirements and liabilities. Ensure Operational work plans include consideration of environmental/consent constraints e.g. site changes to consider agreed landscaping conditions, species licensing, ECoW monitoring/surveys (e.g. birds). Manage ongoing operational environmental and consenting-related obligations (legislative, policy driven and best practice) including but not limited to pollution risk management and mitigation and supporting site investigations where necessary. What do I need? To be considered for this role, we would love you to have: Detailed knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and regulations. Demonstrable project management experience in Phase 1 and Phase 2 Ground Investigations e.g. management of consultants, costs, risk, quality and timing, which are essential to the success of this role. Previous provable stakeholder management skills including engaging, influencing and negotiating to develop effective relationships. Experience in environmental management, assessment and compliance. Ideally you will have an Environmental related degree, preferably with post graduate qualification coupled with experience in a relevant industry (e.g. infrastructure, environmental consultancy dealing with the management of operational assets).
