Our motel
The Coastal Bay Motel is a 42-room motel perfectly positioned within a 5km radius of Coffs Harbour Railway, Coach Terminal, Airport, Marina/Jetty precinct and an easy stroll to Park Beach. We are a family-run business and take pride in providing guests with a clean and comfortable stay. Our guests find our modern, well-appointed rooms and apartments the perfect place to stay for a weekend escape, midweek break, stopover or corporate stay.
Position Objective:
Together with the owners of the Coastal Bay Motel, the management couple is instrumental in developing and implementing strategies and initiatives to enhance our guests' experience whilst maximising Average Daily Rate (ADR) and occupancy levels. This role is pivotal in ensuring the property is compliant with all federal, state, and local laws including Work, Health, Safety and Fire regulations, licensing, and essentials services. In addition, the management team provide leadership and support to the housekeeping team.
Required skills/qualifications
* ABN and current Public Liability insurance
* Demonstrated motel management experience and willingness to participate in the ‘Elite Management Program’ which is a motelsos.com recruitment initiative
* Passion and the motivation to succeed.
* High standard of interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate and build rapport with a diverse range of people
* High level of computer proficiency including Microsoft suite and Xero or similar
* Working knowledge of Property Management Systems such as GuestPoint and SiteMinder as well as online agencies including Booking.com and Expedia
* Current National Police check
* First Aid certificate
Key Accountabilities
* Live onsite, work weekends and public holidays
* Maintain a professional working relationship with the owners
* Hands-on management role required to undertake all daily motel operations including but not limited to:
o Reception including guest meet and greet, bookings, enquiries and assistance
o Administration:
+ Respond to guest feedback
+ Regularly monitoring, and adjusting room rates in response to local events in liaison with owners
* Team management including rostering
* Strip rooms in preparation for housekeepers
* Laundry of all towelling (linen ordered in)
* Ordering and stock take including inventory management
* Undertake basic room maintenance as required
* Pool maintenance
* Grounds maintenance
* Organise and liaise with trade contractors as/if required
Work, Health, and Safety Responsibilities
* Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours
* Ensure adherence to WHS policies and procedures by their team and contractors
* Consult with their team and contractors on WHS issues.
* Ensure that their team are provided with information, instruction, training, and supervision that they need to work safely.
* Identify, assess if necessary and control hazards within their area of responsibility.
* Encourage early reporting of incidents.
