OverviewAs a Mechanical Engineering Co-op in the Waters Global Research organization, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers responsible for the early development of next generation technologies used in chromatography and mass spectrometry analytical instrumentation. You will assist in the design, build, and test of prototype mechanical, electrical, and software components required to develop proof-of-concept prototype instruments used to solve some of the world's most intractable analytical problems.
ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot electro/mechanical problems in a variety of instruments and equipmentAssemble and test various electro/mechanical instruments and assemblies to meet department goals and objectivesAssist department scientists and engineers to understand characteristics and limits of new design ideasBe capable of lab testing of circuits using electrical test equipment including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and emulatorsInterpret design documentation as well as verbal instructions and characterize new designsWork effectively in both an individual and cross-functional team environmentQualificationsWorking towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplineDesire to learn and apply scientific/engineering principles in a research environmentBasic electrical, mechanical, and chemical knowledgeExperience in programming embedded microcontrollersExperience with programming languages C/C++ and PythonData collection, graphing, and interpretation skillsSelf-motivatedGood written and verbal communication skillsStrong computer skillsCompany DescriptionWaters Corporation (NYSE: W
