The Extrusion Operator is responsible for producing extruded product and components consistent with budgetary, quality, safety, and performance standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Extrusion Operator is responsible for:
• Meeting production requirements according to agreed parameters and key performance indicators, including effective waste management.
• Liaising with the Manufacturing Supervisor and Extrusion Technician to ensure production requirements are met to satisfy customer expectations.
• Identifying, recommending, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assisting with the development and improvement of relevant production standards.
• Assisting in development and monitoring key performance indicators.
• Providing recommendations on process equipment upgrades or replacement.
• Providing assistance and support for Extrusion Technician.
• Ensuring all product complies with company standards through measuring, testing, using Statistical Process Control, and keeping adequate records.
• Improving process control to guarantee product meets specifications.
• Liaising with Extrusion Technician on production quality issues.
• Perform basic die cleaning and maintenance.
• Assist in the daily Maintenance program and carry out basic maintenance accordingly.
• Maintaining safe working practices to ensure the safety of all employees.
• Ensuring workplace is kept clean and tidy.
• Ensuring compliance to Toro company WHS policy and procedures.
SPECIFICATIONS
The Extrusion Operator must possess:
• Relevant production experience
• Mechanical aptitude
• A “hands on” technical and a “can do” attitude
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of safe working practices.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal day to day instructions or as part of a team
• Ability to work in a flexible environment, which includes time required for completing tasks.
• Must have a valid forklift license
• Must have a current senior first aid certificate
