Your tasks
1. Design and implement relevant site-specific HSE programs (e.g., Site Safety Management Plan, Risk Assessments, Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS), Safe Operating Procedure (SOP), Environmental Plans, Confined Space Assessments, Ventilation Plans).
2. Supervise the daily activities of the site HSE team and manage work according to upcoming scheduled activities. Participate in work planning meetings to ensure HSE tasks are prepared in advance and identify bottlenecks proactively and provide solutions.
3. Act as the subject matter expert for all health, safety, and environmental site issues. Perform site audits and inspections, drive HSE audits, and develop action plans.
4. Implement and follow KPIs and requirements to maintain compliance for Voith, the client, and authorities.
5. Analyze and support site accident investigations, incidents, or near misses, and deliver strong corrective and preventive actions. Drive and track closure of HSE corrective actions efficiently and timely.
6. Evaluate programs, issue recommendations, and implement required changes for continuous improvement to ensure site HSE compliance with legislation and client requirements.
7. Ensure suitable policies, management systems, and controls are applied across HSE.
8. Be a coach to the project team and provide or arrange HSE training at the site when necessary.
9. Work with the HR Manager and Project Director to manage Workers’ Compensation Claims and Return to Work programs.
10. Conduct qualitative and quantitative HSE reporting and participate in internal and client HSE meetings.
11. Lead and participate in Environment and Social Governance initiatives, such as energy conservation and waste reduction.
Your profile
12. Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
13. Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a health, safety, and environmental management role, preferably within the renewable energy, mining, or construction industries.
14. In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
15. Proven track record of developing and implementing effective HSE programs.
16. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
17. Proficiency in HSE management software and tools.
18. Demonstrated experience in a Senior/Management level position.
19. Strong experience in Hydro Power Plant construction projects is a plus, oil and gas sector, or heavy construction projects.
20. Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills and a pragmatic view of HSE as an integral part of a construction project with schedule targets.
21. Thorough understanding of local and provincial regulations in Australia/New South Wales, and federal regulations, including Workplace Relations Management and Heavy Vehicles National Laws.
