About The TeamLocated in the Planning and Regulation Department, the City Planning Branch is responsible for long term planning and policy development to manage growth and development of our city while protecting and conserving our natural resources and heritage. Strategic Urban and Regional Planning is responsible for developing and reviewing land use and urban design planning policy important to managing the growth of the Gold Coast, providing regional planning advice, and planning assumptions (including population and dwellings numbers).About Your New RoleThe Strategic Infrastructure team within the City Planning Branch has an exciting new permanent opportunity - Coordinator LGIP Program and Projects. This position will:Lead the team responsible for the planning and tactical management of the City of Gold Coast’s Local Government Infrastructure Plan.Drive improvements in program and project management and governance, risk management, performance management, customer service, advocate, communications and financial sustainability.Assist the business unit to enhance the Gold Coast Way of Life through the provision of a diverse range of infrastructure land use planning initiatives to meet the needs of the community and work with partners both internal and external to continually improve the service offering in this portfolio.Roles And Responsibilities For This Position IncludeLead the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) portfolio.Contribute to the planning and delivery of community infrastructure through the delivery of various land use and infrastructure policy initiatives.Implement and drive effective business processes through financial management, business models, risk assessments and performance improvement.Provide expert advice to Councillors on LGIP and other relevant business policy matters.Input into infrastructure charges business systems to ensure LGIP policy is optimized and supports governance protocol.Demonstrate a good understanding of the Queensland Planning Act and infrastructure planning legislation and supporting documents.Promote a positive working environment to achieve quality outcomes through effective leadership of organisational change.Coach and mentor team members in the use and application of statutory frameworks and other City Planning policy relevant to the role to ensure compliance and risk is minimized.We're Looking For People Who HaveTertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning (or a related discipline), or equivalent knowledge.A high level of experience in infrastructure planning, policies and legislation associated with the delivery of infrastructure, or can demonstrate other complex policy development.Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate and manage projects effectively and to achieve quality and timely outcomes.Significant supervisory/management experience, including the ability to develop and motivate staff, provide expert advice and establish and monitor performance objectives.An ability to interpret and navigate political environments, advocate and build strong relationships and credibility with internal and external stakeholders.You hold a current unrestricted class “C” driver’s licence.Potential applicants please note that this is not a project manager role.Be part of shaping the Gold Coast's future.
