In the role of Cadet (Construction Technician) you could be involved in some of the State's largest and exciting construction projects. Cadet Construction Technicians are provided training and experience in the construction of road transport infrastructure projects, considering quality, traffic, environmental issues, safety, engineering standards, budget constraints and construction economy.
We currently have several vacancies across various locations including Mackay, Rockhampton, Emerald, Winton and Bundaberg.
What will your day look like?Under supervision you will:• Assist in the delivery of civil works schemes in accordance with departmental standards, specifications, policies and procedures.• Learn how to manage construction projects using project management principles while monitoring and reporting to the project manager/supervisor on the status of projects.• Undertake or assist in various construction planning activities including the development of environmental, traffic and quality management measures forconstruction phases.• Learn the process for the procurement of materials, engagement of labour, plant and equipment that satisfy the demands necessary for the efficient delivering of construction projects.• Assist in achieving project goals by displaying leadership and direction and work within a team-based work environment.• Assist project manager/supervisor in the liaison with customers, stakeholders and service authorities.• Attend all required classes (including lectures, tutorials and practicals) pass and successfully complete all examinations and assessments required to obtain your qualification, as described under 'mandatory requirements'.
Cadets are required to be studying or eligible for enrolment in an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualification, accredited under the Dublin Accord.
