About the Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Senior Geologist you will be required to:
1. Provide geology support and information through daily pit inspections and communication with production personnel
2. Production tracking and capture of accurate coal mining data to support the reconciliation process
3. Promote focus on best practice coal mining and coal recovery
4. Complete highwall mapping
5. Identify coal quality splits and ensure mining conformance
6. Complete geotechnical inspections and communicate geotechnical hazard controls with production personnel
7. Opportunity to develop structure and quality modelling skills in a complex geological setting
8. Undertake short-term modelling to support drill and blast mining processes
9. Lead by example and instill a safety culture in the geology team and other mine personnel
About You
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
10. Tertiary qualifications in Geology and/or Geotechnical Engineering
11. Demonstrated experience working in an Open Cut Coal mining environment, especially in identifying and managing geological hazards
12. Hold a current Queensland drivers licence;
13. Demonstrated experience in at least one relational data base software package (preferably Vulcan/Minex).
14. Ability to manage multiple scopes of work.
15. Understanding of Coal Mining Safety & Health Legislation.
16. Ability to promote a strong safety culture.
17. Ability to communicate Geological information to various departments including Technical Services & Mining
