Role
The occupational therapist will join a new team to develop and implement a transdisciplinary teaming model, facilitating the education of students with intellectual disability and/or ASD with language disorder. The successful incumbent will work collaboratively to develop and support student's individual program plans and complete the school's requirements for assessment and reporting, provide individual and group-based therapy services, consultancy with staff, students and families, and professional development for the school community
1. Delivery of a professional support service/s in a school/s, including the development of policy and operational practices that will guide the work of others, including other school staff
2. Undertakes advanced interventions in dealing with particularly complex cases that may require cross-profession or agency collaboration
3. Provides expert advice in the professional field, which will influence the strategic approach to student support and learning
4. Actively promotes primary health care, mental health, or wellbeing within the education curriculum. Provides information and facilitates links between the school community and relevant services
5. Delivers health and wellbeing education and promotion programs in collaboration with school community. Provides health and wellbeing advice to the school community
6. Implements evidence-based health promotion and preventive care within the school community
7. Provide leadership, training, and development for others in the adaption and application of professional fields
8. Undertakes nursing and/or health and wellbeing assessments and plans ongoing care to effectively address healthcare needs of individual students and groups within the school community. Acts on referrals by parents, guardians and employees
9. Delivers primary health care, counselling, wellbeing, and therapeutic services to students (or staff) in allocated schools through health education, assessment, support, referral and health and wellbeing promotion activities
10. Provides support for students (or staff) on sensitive health and wellbeing issues

Who May Apply
Required
15. Applicants must be qualified as a psychologist, social worker, mental health nurse, occupational therapist or counsellor of a prescribed class. Specifically:For Psychologists, applicants must hold full registration with AHPRAFor Mental Health Nurses, applicants must hold full registration with AHPRA and hold a postgraduate qualification in mental healthFor Social Workers, applicants must be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social WorkersFor Occupational Therapists applicants must hold full registration with AHPRAFor Counsellors applicants must have completed a Bachelor or Master of Counselling and be a practising member of either the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)
16. Demonstrated direct counselling experience

18. For Psychology applicants, specialisation in educational and/or developmental psychology.
19. For Mental Health Nurse applicants, holding a Mental Health Nurse Credential and membership with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.
20. For Social Work applicants, membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers and an Accredited Social Worker Trade Mark.
21. For Occupational Therapy applicants, a Better Access to Mental Health Endorsement.
22. For Counselling applicants, Level 3-4 registration (ACA) or a Registered Clinical Counsellor endorsement (PACFA).
