Job Description
The Seat Applications Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and integration of seat systems within vehicles. This role involves working closely with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure that seating systems meet safety, comfort, and aesthetic requirements, while also aligning with cost and manufacturability constraints.
1. Project Management of Body Interior Systems for multiple APA programs across multiple PD sites in the region for seating commodity with seat trims knowledge.
2. Manage Suppliers to develop, design and release Body Interior Systems for new, freshening, top-hat & TVM programs.
3. Lead interface between engineering, studio, supplier, manufacturing, craftsmanship & FMQ to ensure quality delivery.
4. Ensure compatibility with all other interfacing systems.
5. Support selection of suppliers, development of program work plans, and completion of gateway deliverables to maintain program timing.
6. Develop designs to meet or exceed system & vehicle attribute targets.
7. Lead CBP activity for your systems within APA. Deliver system Quality targets across multiple programs and support other programs across the region.
8. Deliver system TVM targets across multiple programs and support other programs across the region -Build strong relationship with Global Core in FNA.
9. To successfully bring cross functional team together across different cultures & time zones to ensure repeated delivery of own & shared objectives.
10. Highly proactive & able to demonstrate & inspire a 'can do' attitude. Able to see the big picture & has a strong drive to reach the right outcome for the business. -Able to guide & coach younger, less experienced engineers.
11. Strong & consistent communicator able to tailor appropriately.
12. Recognized as a Technical 'Go To' for his/her systems.
13. To demonstrate a continuous improvement philosophy through process suggestions & best practice design solutions.
14. To offer recommendations for Global Design Rules and has a focus on prevent recurrence.
15. To demonstrate a thorough understanding of SDS, ESR, eFDVS, WERS & GPDS to the extent that he/she can coach other team members.
16. To handle the most complex of Body Interior Systems across multiple programs with very little supervision or guidance.
Qualifications
17. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
18. Strong experience in automotive seating design, development, or related engineering roles.
