Montague Farms stretches from Legana in Tasmania right up to Batlow in New South Wales, stopping on the way at Narre Warren North, Harcourt, Ardmona, Dilpurra and Mildura.
It consists of 1,000 hectares of productive orchards and significant packing operations.
Montague Farms produces apples, pears, cherries, plums, peaches, apricots, grapes and citrus.
About the Role The Assistant Farm Manager forms part of the team and is responsible for the assistance to the management of the assigned Farm(s).
You will support the Farm Manager in all Farm functions, this includes assisting with Staff Management, site safety, tree and crop monitoring, irrigation and harvest activities.
Responsibilities will include: Ensuring the safety of all those working on or visiting the operation by encouraging and promoting a culture of safe working practices and rigidly enforcing safety rules.Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation by motivating staff to achieve high levels of performance.Working to budget and trying to keep costs to an ideal target with regularly meeting and discussing with the Farm Manager.Ensuring that the operations undertaken on the site do not impact adversely on the environment or surrounding neighbours.Assisting the Farm manager in achieving yield targets and quality is optimized with supporting and teaching teams on best practices for quality.Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with all stakeholders (including customers, suppliers, and investors/shareholders).Protecting the assets of the operation by ensuring that all appropriate security measures are undertaken to prevent theft of or damage to site property.About your experience and requirements. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience leading farm teams, preferably in apples, pears, stone fruit, or cherries.
A background in horticulture or agriculture is essential, with relevant certifications such as a VIC Driver's Licence and Safe Chemical Handling Certificate.
